What is Reiki?
Reiki is a simple yet powerful technique that uses energy channeled through the hands of the practitioner. It originally evolved in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui and was later brought to the West.
Reiki promotes holistic healing, reduces stress, and aids relaxation.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words – Rei and Ki. Rei means universal or divine wisdom, while Ki refers to vitality or life force energy. Ki is equivalent to Chi in Chinese and Prana in Indian Sanskrit, all representing the life force energy that animates all living things.
Ki is what enables our physical organs to function in a healthy way. When the flow of Ki is blocked or disrupted, our life force energy diminishes, leading to decreased health on all levels – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
When our energy is high, we are more likely to feel healthy and happy!
Reiki is a natural and safe way to increase the flow of energy and support the body’s healing process. It will work whether you believe in it or not.
How Does It Work?
During a Reiki session at I Am Reiki, you will be asked to lie down, although Reiki can be given in whatever position is most comfortable for you. No clothing is removed during the treatment, though shoes are usually taken off. The practitioner will place their hands gently and non-intrusively over different areas of the body, remaining longer over “problem areas,” with the intent for healing energy to flow.
How Does It Feel?
Reiki is a soothing, pleasant, and relaxing experience. Many people find they can completely “switch off” during a treatment, which isn’t always easy with a busy lifestyle.
Everyone’s experience will be different, though you may feel one or more of the following:

What Is The Duration?
A session will generally last between 50 and 60 minutes.
